About the Mouse Mansion

The Mouse Mansion is a world of its own with over a hundred tiny rooms filled with houses, shops, streets and outdoor spaces, all mouse-sized. It was handcrafted by Amsterdam artist Karina Schaapman, who wanted to create a children's book not with drawings, but with photographs of her handmade miniature world.

What started with cardboard and glue grew into something three metres tall and two metres wide. You can see the original Mouse Mansion in person at the Mouse Mansion shop and museum on Muntplein in Amsterdam.

Who are Sam & Julia

At the heart of it all are Sam and Julia — best friends who share everything. Sam is shy and well-behaved; Julia is curious and always up for an adventure. Together they show young readers what friendship, community and belonging really look like.
